Pamela’s Palace

Set in a buzzing hair and beauty salon, this trio of quirky, crazy ladies, will take you on a journey of revealed secrets, glamour, music, hilarity and brilliant choreography. Intrigued? Grab a prosecco and pull up a chair. Sam About Town booked an appointment to find out more…

SAT: I enter the salon and junior salon assistant Bronwyn welcomes me. I do enjoy beginning a session with a glass of bubbly. Thanks Bronwyn. Can you set the scene for our readers? What is this salon like?

Bronwyn: Pam says it’s not always about the messy bun it’s about the layers, not just loose tousled ones but our personal ones – she said I haven’t found mine yet. We dance a lot, Pam insists we express ourselves through movement and hair. Tiff is our best stylist, but don’t tell Pam I said that – she’s got some really dank moves. I’ve learned a lot at Pamela’s Palace it’s the only place to get the best out of your hair.

SAT: Oooh…..INTERRUPTED! Pamela waltzes in. I get the feeling not much happens around here without her knowing. Hello Pamela! How is your day going?

Pamela: My day is all the better for having Sam about Town in my chair. We don’t want you to leave here with just a haircut we want you to leave with the perfect haircut!

SAT: Time to get down to business. Tiffany, the award-winning stylist begins her consult on my hair. She keeps getting sidetracked with stories though…

Tiffany: I like to educate my clients, what’s a hair do without a story attached? Do you want it cropped, crimped, pumped, pimped, trimmed, coloured, cut, razored, buzzed, spiked, quiffed, back combed, front combed, combed over, tapered, faded or strobed? Hold on a sec my phones ringing…………..Hello?

In the salon at Pamela's Palace

SAT: Geez, that made me jump! The ladies have just broken into song and are strutting about. Hilarious. Where did you learn that clever choreography?

Pamela:Do you mean the Fosse-esk stylish warrior routine?

Tiffany: Or the bangin Jesse Jay moves I got off youtube?

SAT: I’ve heard a rumour that there is a ‘Salon of the Year’ competition coming up. Is your salon going to enter? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Pamela: Are we going to enter? Enter!? We are in the finals! And we SHALL BE VICTORIOUS!

SAT: I’m a bit worried that my highlights are over-cooking as the ladies all seem to have something to share. I hope they are concentrating, but there seems to be so much witty and fast paced drama flying about. Is that your body clock I can hear ticking, Tiffany?

Tiffany: Nah it’s just my bra strap rubbing on my……………..Hold on I’ve got a text.

SAT: You’re all so talented. Do you have some alter-egos hidden away? I get the feeling hair and beauty might not be your only talents. Have you performed before?

PP: In another life Pam (Donna) Tiff (Katie) & Bron (Ayesha) are actors, comediennes and clowns featuring theatre shows, TV & films. Visit www.pamelaspalace.com for all the secret info.

Pamela's Palace cast

SAT: You’ve set up this salon during the Adelaide Fringe. A busy time. I anticipate that you’ll make a splash though and people should book their appointments fast. What will people take away after a session at Pamela’s Palace?

Pamela: A Celebration of Women!
Tiffany: Bangin moves and a top hair do!
Bronwyn: An experience of a lifetime.

SAT: Assuming you win ‘Salon of the Year’, will this notoriety help you set up more salons? What is in store for Pamela’s Palace for the rest of the year?

Pamela: When we finish your haircuts at the Adelaide Fringe we’re going to blow dry and style our way through Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Then back home to sharp bob our way around the UK generating volume and waves in our wake. Our mobile salon will pop up at Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe, a UK theatre tour and lots of highlights in between.
